Matt has starred for the club for many years and was rewarded with the Best and Fairest within the Sydney West/Sydney South West competition this year. Dean Siljanoski played in the Lions undefeated premiership in 2007 before joining the Penrith Rams this year and playing a major role within that team.
Other former Lions players who trialled with the squad included Ben Robinson who appeared to be most unlucky in not gaining selection and will be missed when the going gets tough come January. Kyle McDonagh was ruled out due to injury and had he been available looked almost certain to make the side.
The new team was selected from the elite players from Campbelltown, Penrith, Parramatta and North Western Sydney districts. Other players from our own area selected were Tate Dimech and Jake Pianta (Penrith Swans) and Nick Perry and Tom McNamara (Penrith Rams).
Over the coming months, squads will commence training for Under 13's, 14's, 15's and 16's Pioneers Teams.
Congratulations to our local lads and all the best in Coffs Harbour
