Sadly, Sabbys dad Joe passed away last Wednesday at the Austin Hospital. He was 67.
The Players, Members and Committee at Watsonia Football Club offers its condolences to Sabby and his family.
Joe was a national track cycling champion before an extensive involvement in the sport as an administrator and race promoter.
The indoor velodrome at Darebin is named after him.
He was inducted into the Victorian cycling hall of fame two years ago and was a life member of CycleSport Victoria and the local race promotion group Cyclists International.
Ciavola rode competitively from 1955 to '74, winning four Australian titles and 27 Victorian championships on the track.
He also represented Australia at the 1965 world professional championships.
His efforts in the late 1990s helped save the sport's state governing body from financial ruin.
Rest in Peace
