In the Reserves, the Rebels kicked with a breeze in the first quarter but were unable to take advantage of opportunities, controlling the play but unable to convert on the scoreboard, scores level at two goals apiece at the first break. Kinglake then took control in the second quarter with seven unanswered goals. The Rebels worked hard in the third quarter and again controlled consistent passages of play but were unable to make an impact on the scoreboard kicking two goals from six scoring shots, the Lakers then kicking six goals to one in the final quarter. Use of the breeze was the difference, Kinglake kicking 13 of their 16 goals to the one end of the ground whilst the Rebels kicked four of their five goals to that same end, Alexandra 5.10 – 40 to Kinglake 16.6 – 102.
