This week the Yeoman Football Club makes its annual long trip to Queenstown this week to face the reigning premiers on “the gravel”. The task ahead should not feel as daunting as it has in recent years given that the Crows have not been in the same form. Nevertheless, it’s always a challenge to perform on the unique surface and the Robins will need to be at their best.
Unfortunately, injury and illness have taken a toll in recent weeks and no less than seven regulars will be missing. The positive news is that Marcus Gee, Trent Neilson-Lane and James Jackson are available again and Tom Chilcott will play his first match in a couple of months following the healing of a badly torn hamstring.
In addition, two players, Matt Saltmarsh and Taiten Armstrong, have been promoted for their first matches in the Seniors this season after strong performances in the Reserves.
A couple of families associated with Yeoman will be celebrating this week after Ruby Mitchell and Shania Saward were selected in the Statewide team chosen after the triangular contests between the Northwest, North and South. In other words, the best in Tasmania. Congratulations Ruby and Shania!
The annual Yeoman Football Club Last Man Standing is fast approaching, if you have yet to purchase a ticket please contact Jaime Wynwood on 0456 785 616.
We hope to see as many of the Yeoman faithful make the journey to Queenstown to support both sides.
Reserves Starts 12:00pm
Seniors Start 2:00pm
