Following a disappointing result against Yolla up the hill at their home ground, the boys return to Wivenhoe tomorrow to tackle Natone. This is the team we beat by 51 points on Gala Day, but times have inevitably changed and the challenge is much greater this time around.
The good new is that we won’t have to go to Yolla again this season and our brains trust have plenty of time to consider what to do to prepare for the next encounter with the Demons. A bit of luck with injuries and work commitments would be helpful.
Injuries have taken a toll in recent times but cannot be used as an excuse, so all those selected to play for the Robins this Saturday will need to be ready to go from the first bounce.
Unfortunately, Bailey “Whacko” Jackson copped a dislocated shoulder injury in the Yolla match, meaning six of our regulars were not there to prosecute our case for four quarters. All the best to Bailey in what looks like an extensive recovery.
Fortunately, ruckman Jackson Daniels will be back to get us going from the centre and Sam Saward and Bob Wynwood return, while Braeden Walker comes in for his first Seniors game of the season.
The wide-open spaces of Wivenhoe should make it harder for opposition back men to clog our forward line, so our goalkickers will be looking to put a winning score on the board.
The Reserves had their moments last week, especially in the first half, and will be out to return to the form shown at Wivenhoe in recent weeks. A notable inclusion will see a veteran of years gone by make an appearance – Wes Blachford, no less, will be in town to pull on the boots.
Maybe the old man will come down to have a look!
We hope to see all the Yeoman faithful at the home of the Robins for what is sure to be two great games of football!
This week’s home game is proudly brought to you Golden Homes.
