The lockdown has ended with footy and netball returning this weekend!
On Saturday the Bloods head to Maddingly Park for a clash with Bacchus Marsh. The Marsh are the only team we are yet to play this year and one of the League’s key criteria was to make sure every team played each other once to constitute a season.
Unfortunately the re-drawn fixture sees us hit the road three times with no more home matches in 2021. That of course means no sponsors day function, or the proposed Meltonians function, and possibly the last ‘senior match’ on the current oval if we move across to the new front ground in 2022.
When we hit the pause button on season 2021, the seniors were sitting in 2nd spot, with the Reserves and Unders sitting in the top 6 and looking to consolidate a finals position. Our D and E Grade netballers were in a good position on the ladder as well heading towards finals.
Amended Schedule
Bacchus Marsh is the venue for this weekend, followed by Sebastopol (August 7) and finally Melton South (August 14). We have a bye to finish off (August 21), ahead of the finals.
Radio Game
The Bloods senior footy match against Bacchus Marsh is being broadcast on 97.9fm this weekend. We look forward to having our first match for 2021 on the local radio for those who are unable to be at the ground. Visit www.979fm.com.au to listen to the broadcast from 1pm on Saturday.
COVID restrictions
While not the outcome that supporters will want, the COVID restrictions in place from the State Government only allow for players and match day officials to attend the games over the next two weekends. We politely request that our members follow this directive. The league have also re-iterated this message to the clubs.
TAC Road Safety Message
Next weekend at Sebastopol we take part in TAC Road Safety Round, and we do our bit to share the road safety message. Our players will all wear a blue armband on the field and you will see road safety messages around our clubrooms and on social media this week. If you’re drinking at the footy, handball the driving to someone who isn’t.
Women’s Football
The girls are in Ballarat this weekend (Sunday 1 August) against Lake Wendouree with a 12.45pm start.
Social Calendar
Presentation Night will be held on Thursday 23 September (Grand Final Eve Public Holiday). Further information to come.
