David Parsons becomes the 55th umpire in NCCUA history to officiate in 100 matches. He has officiated in 78 Black Diamond Cup Matches, 12 Plate, 2 Shield and 8 Women’s Cup (inc 1 boundary) matches. David has officiated in the AFLHCC since 2016 and has umpired in the 2019 and 200 Black Diamond Cup Grand Finals, the 2017 Black Diamond Plate Grand Final and the 2016 and 2018 Black Diamond Cup Women’s Grand Finals. The NCCUA congratulates David on his significant milestone and wishes him all the very best for the match.
Peter Austin becomes the 56th umpire in NCCUA history to reach the 100 match milestone. He has had several stints umpiring with the NCCUA due to work commitments and this milestone has been a long time coming! Peter commenced umpiring in 2006 and umpired until 2010. After an extended break, he re-commenced umpiring in 2017. Austin has officiated in 41 Black Diamond Cup Matches, 21 Plate, 1 Shield, 11 Reserve, 15 Under 18’s, 8 Black Diamond Cup Womens and 3 Black Diamond Plate Womens Matches. The NCCUA congratulates Peter on a well-earned milestone and thanks him for his service.
Simon Richens becomes the 108th umpire to reach the 50-match milestone and the 37th goal umpire to officiate in 50 matches. Simon has umpired in 31 Black Diamond Cup Matches, 1 Plate, 1 Shield and 17 Black Diamond Women’s Cup Matches. Having commenced umpiring in 2019 with his son, Luke, Simon has officiated in the 2019 Black Diamond Women’s Cup Grand Final and last year, was selected for his 1st Black Diamond Cup Grand Final, a sensational achievement in just two seasons. This effort saw Simon win the 2020 John Sullivan Goal Umpire of the Year Award. The NCCUA wish Simon all the very best for his special day.
