Thoughts on the result on the weekend
In our closest game for the season, the team went down by two goals losing to Macedon 19-21. Despite the loss, I was very proud of the team as our goal for the game was to do better than we did the first time we played them and to score more goals than we did last game. When we met in round 5 this year we lost by 25 goals. A super team effort this game.
Key moment that stood out for you in the game
The second and third quarters were by far the teams best, outscoring Macedon in both of these quarters. Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep the momentum going in the last quarter. An injury to our Captain Lou Marendaz threatened to disrupt our lineup in the second half but the team was versatile enough to cover the loss.
Key players that impressed and why
Charlee Duff-Tytler had a great game playing in defence, making it difficult for her opponent and consistently leading and offering through the mid-court. Backing up after the 19’s which was also a close match didn’t seem to affect Charlee. Mackenzie Brown showed how versatile she is by playing in C as well as GA. Macca gave us the run we needed in attack and filled the hole in goals left by Lou. I was super impressed by Kimberley Richardson who easily played her best game of the season. Kim was moving well and shot confidently in a game which will hopefully boost her confidence for the rest of the season.
What am I looking for the group to improve on
We still need to work hard at playing four consistent quarters if we want to beat the teams that sit above us. Our passing remains a constant area which we need to focus on.
