WELCOME to the Traralgon Football-Netball Club for what will be a highly emotional day for both clubs as we take billing as the feature game for Mental Health Round.
Today you will see one footballer from each grade wearing a special commemorative jumper with the number zero on the back to represent the push for zero lives lost to mental health, while netballers will wear light blue bibs.
Our footballers today will also wear specially made t-shirts in honour of Riley Pearce. The Moe-Newborough women’s team played in a Mental Health Round against Boisdale-Briagolong last Sunday, with a specially designed jumper with Choppy’s number 16 auctioned off for the Black Dog Institute.
Elsewhere, the club had another VFL debutant in Jess McGrath, who played for Richmond last Sunday. McGrath completed what is surely the most remarkable rise in football history, going from the Moe reserves to VFL seniors in the space of nine weeks.
A top three battle in the Seniors saw Moe fall to Wonthaggi by 11 points. Charlie Rieniets, Harri Sim and Declan Keilty collected best on ground honours.
The Reserves played in another close game with Tyler Morrow, Clinton Taylor and Liam Michie the best performers.
In junior grades the Thirds got the job done in relatively easy fashion, with Rohan Demczuk, Warren Hester and Sam Hanson prominent.
The Fourths had their best win for the season, coming from some distance to secure victory. Best players were Bailey Wilson, Liam Weir and Cody Wood.
Netball action saw A Grade put up a big today in their win. Georgia Moody, Jordan Pyle and Ramayer Gourley played well.
B Grade had a similar performance led by Carly Wood and Maleah Travers. Elly Brown was best on court in C Grade, meaning a clean sweep in the senior grades.
Moe got in by the barest of margins in the Under 17s. There was no such result for the Under 15s or Under 13s.
