Back on the winners list this week with 3 good wins against Upper Ferntree Gully and a fitting result for our Skipper Jackson Glossop who played his 150th game. There was a special presentation by Ken John at the after match for Jacko, Ruddy and Winno celebrating their recent miles stones which was well received by another good crowd in attendance.
BIG THANK YOU to The Mitcham Volunteers who worked tirelessly during the day to deliver another great match day experience and then late into the night as we hosted mates’ round in the sports bar for the Umpires. It was great to see a large number of the umpires in attendance who play such an important part in our great game.
Shout also to the UFTG for joining us in the rooms after the game, hasn’t been the easiest of seasons for the gully boys both on and off the field with problems with their social club but it was great to see them sticking fat and enjoying our hospitality after the game. Check back later in the week for the coach's reports nd we may be a little light on for photos this week with our resident photographers unavailable. #proud2bmitcham#strongandbold
Under 19s Coach's Report
This week against UFTG we had a clear focus to take the game on and not over use the football. Up to half time it was a fairly even contest. We had some good moments, especially from our back 6 who resisted the pressure from the opposition’s repeat entries. At half time our mids were challenged to increase their accountability as individuals and as a group. To the boys credit, the response was strong and our forwards worked well as a group to convert the opportunities accurately. Overall, a positive step for us today as a TEAM. We move to fourth and are excited about the opportunity next week.

Getting back to Walker Park we were all happy with that, the cold conditions were at times quite brutal, our boys once again had a focus on 4 qtrs of footy which is important for us to drive those standards, we knew that UG always provide a competitive contest and they did as we expected. We started very well with 3 goals to 1 into the breeze, the 2nd qtr saw us drop our concentration with some poor decision making, even though we went into the main break 5 goals ahead. After some discussion at the break we came out and adjusted to run away with the game playing good footy to win by 80 odd points, once again our setup in defence was outstanding as we locked the footy in our fwd half, our on ballers were solid with Josh Valle having his best game, the overall pressure was super and our fwd’s worked hard all day and got rewarded, Harry with 4 goals Cam with 3 majors. Big game at Mooroolbark this week away where we haven’t managed to win before so that will be something spoken about during the week. Huge shout out to our supporters for watching and spurring us on as always.

Senior Coach's Report
This week we were finally back at home after a long time away from the MCG of the East. We took on Upper Ferntree Gully who really made us work for the win last time we played against them. We addressed a few areas during the week at training and the challenge was to be able to implement them on match day, pleasingly we were able to do so as we put together our most complete performance of the season so far. Our ball movement was much better than the last 2 weeks and we were able to hit some targets going inside forward 50 which we had struggled to do recently. Unfortunately our kicking boots still weren’t on as we kicked 14.19 for the day, but we were much more accurate after half time. Jesse Uren and Alex Barton Smith found plenty of the ball through the midfield and Jake Parente kick 6 majors for the day. Well done to our skipper Jackson Glossop for chalking up 150 games for the football club, he led from the front all day as he typically does.
Thanks to all our supporters who braved the very cold conditions to help us get across the line, we hope to see you out at Mooroolbark this week.
