Certainly wasn’t our most rounded performance of the season thus far when we visited Upper Gully on the weekend – Under 19s coughed up a two and a bit lead at 3/4 time to go down by 3 points, Reserves were never really headed and the Seniors did what they had to do agasint a spirited opposition to win by 9 points. BIG THANK YOU to the Upper Ferntree Gully Football Netball Club for their hospitality. Under 19s Coach's Report
Bang................ our bubble has burst. In what proved to be a disappointing game for our boys, we were beaten by a team that gave a work rate and effort that we expect from our boys. Upper Gully had the first goal our Backs were getting led to the footy, midfielders not accountable and forwards stuck in the one spot. It was like somebody flicked a “do not operate” switch and everybody went into hibernation. Fortunately Upper Gully missed a few gettable chances, and we were still in the game at quarter time.
Second quarter and we started to get our act together. We played the 20 minutes on even terms, with Aaron Peter Budge, Will Drake and Tom Donnelly all having an impact, taking us into the break having won the quarter and taking a slight lead. Third and patches of our best footy for the season, however we could not shake our opposition and their perseverance would continue into the last where lapses in concentration and ill discipline would impact.

Reserves Coach's Report
Heading to Upper Gully is always a hard task and never easy on their big deck, what was on offer for us was a 3 & 0 start to the year and the boys delivered. Our first half was patchy as Upper certainly made it a fight, going into the main break we had a 3-4 goal lead and we had to make some adjustments for the 2nd half, simplifying our footy was one of them and promoting more over lap run, the 3rd qtr we kicked a couple more and played much better, the last though was our best for the day booting 5 and looking much better with our ball movement to take the win. Once again very pleasing to see another even contribution across the group with our best very hard to pick. This week Mooroolbark are also undefeated and will be our biggest test so far, can’t wait to see our boys perform against a quality oppo, again our supporters were terrific so thank you.

Senior Coach's Report
This week we travelled out Upper Ferntree Gully to take on a team that had lost their first 2 games, so we knew they would be desperate to get their first win on the board. The day didn’t start well with Will Gordon getting injured in the first ruck contest of the day meaning our first gamer Oscar Messenger had a baptism of fire as he was thrown into the ruck for a majority of the day.
Upper Gully came out hard and had the better of the first quarter and we were lucky to only be behind by 4 points as they missed some shots at goal they should’ve kicked. Our 2nd quarter was much better as our ball movement and defensive pressure improved and we took a 12 point lead into the half time break. Our 3rd quarter was the best of the day as we held them to 1 point and had 6 shots at goal unfortunately only kicking 2 of them to take a 27 point lead into the last quarter. To Upper Gully’s credit they through everything at us, but we were able to steady when required and they kicked a couple of late goals to reduce the margin to 9 points.
Thanks to everyone who came along and supported us, we always appreciate the support we get at away games, we hope to see you all along for the home game against the undefeated Mooroolbark this week.
