The club is delighted to inform members and supporters that Marcus Buzaglo has been appointed Senior coach for the 2021 season.
Many of you may already be aware that Marcus joined the club at the end of 2019 season as the senior assistant to Luke McCormick. As such he has been closely involved with the men’s program for the entire 2020 preseason (before COVID caused the season cancellation) and all of the current preseason.
This time has provided Marcus a strong understanding of the playing group, team structures and a great overview of our club as a whole. More recently he has taken control of the senior men’s group and deepened relationships with both players and the broader SCFC community.
Marcus has very strong knowledge of the EFNL, with more than 30 years playing and coaching at high levels. With 280 games in 1st Division for East Ringwood (before Premier Division), including the 2002 premiership, his leadership qualities are apparent – club captain, ERFC Team of the Decade rep and captain, multiple EFNL representative team selections and 2009 captain, and senior coach for East Ringwood for over 5 years.
Marcus brings strong and open communication skills, and this allows him to establish rapport and build trusting relationships quickly. He has a desire to develop players both on and off the field and he places a high value on growth for individuals and success for the team.
The club is thrilled to have been able to secure a mentor with such sound credentials and work ethic, who steps right in without the need to start afresh.
We are confident that Marcus can take our group to the level expected in season 2021.
Please join us in giving Buzz, his wife Monique, children Emily and Jack a warm South Croydon welcome.
