Round 7 was a mixed bag of results
U19s Division 2
The score doesn’t tell the story of this one. Despite a growing injury toll our boys were competitive all game but just couldn’t find their way to goal efficiently. Regardless of the result the 19s took a lot of positives out of the match and with 2 matches left in the season are well placed to contest finals in this shortened season.
Goannas: 3.1-19
North Shore: 11.9-75
Women’s Reserves (Division 2)
At home at Gipps on a glorious day for footy in last year’s Grand Final rematch against St George. In a very physical game with lots of sore bodies on both sides, our girls fought hard all ball making it very hard for St George to score. Congratulations to the backline who repelled attach after attack and never said die.
Goannas: 0.0-0
St George: 7.11-53
Women’s 1st Grade (Division 1)
Another dominating performance from the 1st grade ladies. Keeping a team scoreless for the first time this year they have amassed 7 wins from 7 games. Special mention to Karley Stretton kicking a Goanna ladies game record of 9 goals in one game and Maddi Finch kicking 7 goals to take her tally to 31 goals for the season.
Goannas: 22.13-145
Mac Uni: 0.0-0
Men’s Reserves (Platinum Reserves)
Dominant from the first bounce, the Goannas got on top early and never looked back for a huge victory. A massive thanks to the 1st graders who put their hand up to play 2 matches this weekend.
Goannas: 32.16-208
South West: 1.4-10
Men’s 1st Grade (Platinum Division)
With quite a Goannas having already played a match, snatching a win was always going to be a tough ask against the Magpies fresh legs. A dominant third quarter provided a big enough lead to keep them at bay, with a big last quarter from South West.
Luke Strahan starred with 9 goals.
Goannas: 15.3-93
South West: 13.8-86
With 2 rounds to go our Under 19s and Men’s Reserves need to keep performing to ensure their spots in the finals, with the 1st Grade women on track for a top 2 spot.
