Blume commenced his career in 2012 and has umpired in 117 Black Diamond Cup matches (105 field and 12 boundary), 21 Plate matches, 3 Shield matches, 1 Reserve Grade, 3 Under 18's matches, and 4 Women's Cup matches.
Stephen has officiated in the last 4 Black Diamond Cup Grand Finals as field umpire 2016-2019, an outstanding achievement, as well as the 2014 and 2015 First Division Grand Finals.
His first Grand Final as a Field Umpire was the 2013 Second Division Grand Final.
Blume won the Golden Whistle in 2016, the Neville Turner Memorial Trophy for services to umpiring in 2017 and did the rare double of the NCCUA Umpire of the Year and Field Umpire of the Year in 2018. In 2019, Stephen won the Coaches Award.
Blume has been the recipient of the league's Umpire of the Year award on two occasions, 2018 (BDAFL) and 2019 (AFLHCC).
Blume is a great mentor to our younger and less experienced umpires and has served on the NCCUA Committee since 2017. He is currently serving as the NCCUA Vice President.
The NCCUA thanks Stephen for his dedication to umpiring and wishes him all the best for his 150th match.
