Dylan Joyce has taken out the 2008 Robert Hyde Medal Best & Fairest Award from Andrew Duhau and Stephen McCallum.
On Friday October 10th 2008 more than 250 people attended the “Robert Hyde Medal” Best and Fairest Award.
In a thrilling count, both Dylan Joyce and Andrew Duhau found themselves tied on 93 votes each heading into the final home and away games versus the Bendigo Pioneers at Golden Square Arena.
Dylan had a blistering first half against Bendigo where racked up 19 first half possessions and was awarded 10 best and fairest votes, making him the winner of the 2008 Robert Hyde Medal on 103 votes. Dylan had a consistent season polling in 10 out of his 16 games played. He also represented Victoria Metro. their 2008 U18 National Championship victory and was a member of the 2007 Calder Canons Premiership team. Dylan explained that winning the Robert Hyde Medal was one of the “highlights of his career”.
Runner Up Andrew Duhau polled 93 votes and capped of a stellar season by being named in the 2008 TAC Cup Team of the Year on the interchange and also finished 3rd in the TAC Cup Coaches award.
Third place went top bottom age onballer Stephen McCallum with 71 votes.
