COVIID – 19 Return to Training Protocols.
Following the recent update to the Victorian State Government advice around the return of community sport, the committee have now finalized our staged response to returning to training. This will continue to be evaluated each week to ensure compliance.
At this point there has been no decision made as to whether the season will proceed or what the season may look like if it does proceed, however the club is continuing to plan for a season until such point that it is cancelled if that was to be the case.
Below is the full list of training times.
Football
Seniors Thursdays 6.15pm
Under 17.5 Wednesdays 5.00pm
Under 14.5 Tuesdays 5.00pm commencing June 23.
Under 11.5 Thursdays 4.30pm commencing June 25
Netball
Seniors Thursdays 6.30pm
Under 17 Wednesdays 5.00pm
Under 15Wednesdays 5.00pm commencing June 24
Under 13Thursdays 4.30pm commencing June 25
I need to emphasize that participation during this stage is optional.
The training protocols below have had some alterations for juniors and your respective coaches are aware of the reductions in restrictionshowever parents or caregivers for junior participants must remain outside the boundary line and observe social distancing and we strongly recommend junior players have a maximum of 1 parent/caregiver present at training.
The training hygiene protocols which are outlined below are to be strictly adhered to at all times, with no exceptions;
- A maximum of twenty players (not including a coach or minimum number or support staff) on an oval / court at any point in time.
- Groups must not mix with each other and must remain distant, with participants not allowed to swap between groups.
- Strictly no physical contact between players can occur (i.e. no tackling, bumping, marking contests, netball game simulation or half court games etc).
- Social distancing of 1.5m must be maintained at all times.
- No access to club rooms, change rooms or showers, other than toilets.
- Footballs and Netballs can be used for training, however only limited additional equipment is permitted to be used during training. i.e. field / court marking cones are permitted. Bibs, club supplied colored singlet’s are not permitted.
- Coach’s will be placing all players in groups and you will be advised in advance which group you will be in, training dates and times and the court / oval you have been designated to. This will include the time you need to arrive and depart.
- Players need to arrive at training ready to train and then leave immediately after training. i.e. no socializing before and after training.
- A register of participants at each session will be maintained and retained by the club. Players on arrival are to have their names added to this register.
- Only players, coaches and officials are to attend senior training. Parents or caregivers for junior participants must remain outside the boundary line and observe social distancing and we strongly recommend junior players have a maximum of 1 parent/caregiver present at training.
- If you or people you have been in contact with are sick, DO NOT attend training and advise your coach who is responsible for informing the COVID Safety Officer.
- Generally, you should be tested for COVID-19 if you develop fever or respiratory symptoms and meet at least one the following criteria:
- You have returned from overseas in the past 14 days, been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days, travelled on a cruise ship (either passenger or crew) in the 14 days before developing symptoms, are a health care, aged care or residential care worker, have lived in an area where there is a higher risk of community transmission, as defined by the local public health unit.

- Alcohol-based hand sanitisers will be available for all team training sessions and for each respective group which players are required to use prior, during and following training.
- There is strictly to be no sharing of personal items such as water bottles, food or towels. Personal items need to be easily distinguishable, labeled and kept separate.
- Players, coaches and officials must not spit or clear nasal passages at training.
- No high fives, handshakes, or other physical contact.
- Club provided footballs / netballs will be wiped with antibacterial wipes or alcohol-based sanitiser prior to and after training sessions. Toilets will be regularly cleaned before, during and after training.
- Trainers will be available in the event of serious injury, however players are to be responsible for their own strapping if required. There will also be no player massages.
- The club encourages all players, volunteers and families to download the COVIDSafe App to help in tracing the spread of COVID-19
A Covid Safe Officer will be on hand at training to ensure all teams understand and agree to adhere to the training protocols.
There are other specific requirements which will be addressed by a Covid Safe Officer direct with coaches and officials.
There is no length of time announced of how long these restrictions will apply to training before larger group training or full training will be permitted.
Netballers who have not paid their VNA membership fee will not be covered for insurance in the event of an injury and the club will not be held liable.
