A modified competition involving Central Murray and Golden Rivers clubs could still be played after this year's premiership season was cancelled.
The modified competition would be played in August and September, subject to government restrictions on gatherings, and the league is hopeful of being in a position to organise the competition from July 1.
However, no premierships will be awarded and the salary cap is expected to be set at $0.
It is not yet decided whether separate competitions would be organised for Central Murray and Golden Rivers clubs, or whether they could compete against one another.
AFL Central Murray said the intention was to allow all grades to play but juniors will be given priority over seniors should restrictions limit the number of matches.
AFL Central Murray and the Golden Rivers board announced the cancellation of the premiership season this morning.
