Life Membership GFNC - 2019
Spaga joined the club from Yinnar in 1984 as an assistant Coach a position he held for 4 seasons. A highly skilled smooth moving mid fielder he won back to back Senior Club Best & Fairest wards in 1984 & 1985 and played in his first ever Premiership with the club in 1986. Two further Senior Premierships were to follow in 1989 & 1991. At League level he represented the NGFNL in 1984, 1985, and 1989 when he was also named in the All Gippsland team. At the end of his 9 seasons at Gormandale he had played in excess of 150 games and was one of the clubs most decorated players. After an absence from the club he returned following his sons careers with the club and over the last few years has been on the committee, and the main organiser and administrator of the Wednesday Chook Auction. Spaga has also been a trainer for the club and has run the bar particularly when the Veteran teams have used the ground, and cleaned the change rooms after home games. For his outstanding service to the club on and off the ground he was awarded a Life Membership in 2019
