Sunbury Lions Football Netball Club welcomes you to season 2020.
This season promises to be bigger and better at the Lions as the Junior Division extends a warm welcome to the Youth Girls Footballers who will now fit in under the Junior Division. The Youth Girls have been well looked after by the Senior Club since they commenced playing and are a great fit for the Junior Division.
In addition, the Senior and Junior Clubs have voted for us to amalgamate, which will be finalised in the coming weeks - we have now formed one great club of Footballers and Netballers. This move will give the Juniors a pathway to the Seniors and give us greater access to Senior Personnel, facilities and functions. We are fast becoming the destination club in the region.
Most Football and Netball coaches have been appointed for season 2020 and can be found on the club website www.sunburyfc.com.au and our Sunbury Lions Junior Football Netball Club Facebook page. We are still seeking a Netball Co-ordinator, U13 Netball Coach, U15 Youth Girls, U18A Youth Girls Football Coaches and U9 Boys Football Coaches. Should you know of anybody interested in these positions please contact me directly. This season the club will field at least one team in both Netball and Youth Girls Football and 2 teams in each age group of Junior Football.
Pre-Season Training will be announced in due course. Some coaches intend to have a few light training sessions prior to Christmas. Please keep an eye on the Junior Club website, Facebook page or any chat groups that may already be set up.
Registrations for season 2020 are open for all existing members, new members will be able to register as of 1 January 2020 and clearances from other clubs open in February 2020. Existing members should have received an email with a link to register.
The club will hold a Registration Day on Sunday 2 February 2020 at Clarke Oval – be sure to get in early and reserve your place in an age group as numbers will fill fast. To register your interest in an age group we will be again requested $50 non-refundable deposit to hold your spot, this fee will go directly towards the cost of your child’s membership. Please note that no child will be selected for a team unless a $50 deposit has been paid. Full fees are due by Round 3, unless families have contacted our Treasurer (treasurer@sunburyfc.com.au).
A selection of apparel will be available to purchase on the Registration Day, orders will also be taken for apparel that will be delivered prior to Round 1.
Team Selections, at the request of many of the coaches, are expected to be announced by the end of February. All teams for season 2020 will be posted via the Website and Facebook.
Team selection process will consist of the coaches of each age group jointly selecting the teams after a number of training sessions. These teams are to be presented to the selection sub-committee which includes the President, Vice President/JDO and the Junior Vice President/Coaching Co-Ordinator to be ratified prior to posting on the website and Facebook.
Our Auskick program will be run again this season by Kathryn O’Beirne. At this stage our intentions are to run the program on a Friday night at Clarke Oval. All Boys and Girls from Grade Prep onwards are welcome to come along and be a part of the club. Costs at this stage are yet to be confirmed, although we expect them to be similar to last season.
Throughout season 2020 there are going to be many fundraising events. As a club we do rely heavily on the support of all members to attend the events. They not only provide essential funds to keep the club afloat, but they also provide wonderful opportunities to mingle, form relationships with other families and build a positive club culture. An events schedule will be published early in the season.
