C Grade took to the court against Macedon feeling as though they really could cause an upset after the 19 and Under's come-from-behind win.
In extremely windy conditions, the team started well by playing a short game and were equal with Macedon at quarter time.
In the second quarter we lost our way a little and were down six-goals at half time.
A reminder to the team of the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and playing our game had the team win the third quarter 5-3 and we were only five goals down at the start of the last quarter.
The first few minutes had us go goal-for-goal with Macedon, however sensing the pressure, Macedon brought on some stronger players in the last quarter.
We couldn’t quite maintain our pressure and intensity, eventually going down 32-19. We were not that far off the team that sits on top of the ladder.
Jazz Gardner continued her excellent form, working really hard in GA to create space in the ring, feeding the ball to Alex and bring the ball down the court into attack. Jazz has been playing consistently well lately.
Sarah Smith continues to give her all in defence, making her player earn each ball and creating tips and intercepts. Paige Mitchener continued her good form with her attacking pace, playing in the mid-court. Paige worked hard to get into a good position to feed the ball to the goalers.
The team should take heart from the fact that we were within four goals of the top of the table team after a few minutes of the last quarter. We need to continue to work hard, refine our skills, maintain a positive and encouraging attitude and focus on playing four good quarters of netball. Go Hawks!
