We Need Your Help
Dear Players and parents,
Our current highest priority issue is attracting volunteers to our Club to ensure our kids get to play, develop skills and have fun.
For this to happen we need people to volunteer to coach and do score bench.
Coaching
We know this can be quite challenging when you don’t have any background in the sport but helping children develop skills and have fun is a most rewarding experience.
Our Club has scheduled 2 sessions, August 11 and August 18, 9 – 10am at the DBA stadium for anyone who may be interested, to come along and find out what is involved. Calum Stewart, our U12 Girl's coach, former UK National League winner and Scotland Men's International Player will be on hand to demonstrate some fundamentals and this will be the start of ongoing weekend sessions to support you.
Coaching does involve a weekly commitment for the season and in recognition of this the Club Committee has approved the following coaching incentives;
- Refund club fees for a maximum of 3 family members including self;
- Refund of mandatory ochre card fees;
- Free Lightning Official polo shirt;
- Free basketball + bag + whiteboard;
- Inclusion in our Volunteer Group to facilitate notification of events and development opportunities run by our Club, Darwin Basketball Association, Basketball NT and Basketball Australia; and
- Invitation to club events (junior / senior presentation).
Score Bench
Unlike coaching, score bench, when shared with other parents and players, does not need to be a week to week proposition.
During the above sessions, our people will be there to show you how to operate the score bench equipment.
Further, our Volunteer coordinator, Patina, will attend Saturday games to provide “on the job” support and will also manage a score bench roster for every junior team.
