League Men - Uni Rebels Vs Eagles
A "grind it out" contest between Uni Rebels Mens and the high scoring Eagles outfit last Saturday night, Rebels jumped out to a 8-3 advantage in the first two and a half minutes of the game because of the great ball movement of the team. Rebels Men was able to maintain the lead in the first quarter and finished with a 27 to 21.
The Rebellion went basket for basket with Eagles in the second quarter, highlighted with a rim rattling dunk from big man Daniel Green (30pts) coming off a lose ball rebound by Jason Goodwin (14pts) and a finding Daniel free under the basket. Uni Rebels was able to hold the lead 50 to 43 to end the first half.
Led by Rebels playmaker Lawrance Triplett (43pts) who grabbed 13 boards, 8 assists and 4 steals; who scored from everywhere on the floor. Uni Rebels kept finding Daniel Green near the basket who thew down a few more massive dunks and kept Eagles at bay in third quarter and had a 6 points lead to go in the the last break 74 to 68.
Eagles tried to stage a comeback in the fourth quarter coming within a point of Uni Rebels 86 to 85 with 1:44 left in game. But Uni Rebels kept their composure and grinded out a 7 point win over Eagles 97 to 90. Daniel Green finished the game with 17 rebound and a block supported by Jason Goodwin with 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block and Jake Kirby (8pts) with 8 boards and 5 assists. The win catapults Rebels Men to a share of second place on the ladder with Eagles.
