Mental Health First Aid Australia is running a special Youth course at the Gilbert Gordon Oval Social Rooms over four consecutive Wednesday nights starting on June 5 from 6pm .
This is a FREE course and is opened at anyone in the community wanting to become a Mental Health First Aid to support young people aged 12 to 18.
Youth Mental Health First Aider Training Benefts include:
KNOWLEDGE - improves knowledge of mental illnesses, treatments and first aid actions.
CONFIDENCE - increases confidence in providing first aid.
DE-STIGMATISING - descreawes stigmatising attitudes.
SUPPORT - increases the support provided to others.
The course aims to provide first aid skills in the following:
- Recognising common mental health problems in young people.
- Providing initial help using a practical evidence-based Action Plan.
- Seek appropriate professional help.
- Respond in a crisis situation.
This a 14-hour educational course that aims to provide invaluable resources in working with those who need assistance, or don't realise they need it and can assist in recognising vital signs in those that are going through difficult challenges.
This event is sponsored by the Woodend Hesket Football Netball Club in partnership and support from the Macedon Ranges Shire Council.
Annie Rowland will facilitate all four evenings. Annie offers outstanding experience in supporting youth in the community through her dedicated work to youth programs. She has extraordinary passion for this space and is a valuable person to learn from.
