Last weekend at Trumper Park saw Life Member Nick "The General" Milkins become only the second player in Club history to reach the much sought after milestone of 100 Club Games. The wily old fox turned in a vintage display against the ladder leaders, running into many packs in his distinctive ass first approach, and more than most, being the last man off the ground in the packs.
General has been around the club since Jesus kicked a Sherrin, playing in all manner of positions, but has found a niche in the centre overe the last two years since the Jets returned to First Division, hammering his much faster and youthful opponents with precision. Tough as nails, and as humble as possible, General epitomises all that is Nor-West, and is a shining example of how a footballer should be. The man brings a tear to the eye to even the most hardened tough guy, and can get a laugh out of....well.....someone that doesn't laugh??That'll do.
The club is lucky to have the services of General this year, with his commitment to his young family, his ongoing guidance of young Toboganneers (as they are known) who are honing their skills for the next Winter Olympics in Wodonga, and passing on his extensive knowledge of all things Uno, after his win on the World Uno Tour in 2001, held on the island paradise of Nauru.
We congatulate General on his incredible milestone, and i for one hope he can stick around next year, coz if he doesn't, well, it won't be the bloody same. If elbows can shed tears, i'll need plenty.
Nice one Magoo...
