When it comes to hard work on the track in 2008
our boys may have thought they had the bragging rights. That was until our
girls hit the biggest track of them all "The Kokoda Trail". And that
is “Kokoda” not to be confused with our boys battles to and from “Dakota”.
Michelle Lucas and Lyn Fraser are well known for their hard work in the Mitcham
canteen and have been for many years now. Dedicated and loyal members of our
club they decided to take a break from the football and venture off on their
own battle. After many months of pounding pavements and climbing every mountain
in Victoria
along with regular Saturday and Sunday football commitments, the girls were
finally ready for the real thing. Wearing their Mitcham shirts with pride they
battled their way through the tough conditions and with the help of their local
porters completed one of the toughest walks in existence. And of course we
NEVER DOUBTED they would complete the track. To their credit they talked the
talk and walked the walk, the toughest walk of them all. Congratulations to
both of you in what was a great achievement. Photos can be seen in the photo
gallery under "around the club".
