Bloods Banter – Grand Final Edition
Here we are again, facing East Point in a final just like we did two weeks ago but this time a Premiership Cup is up for grabs. In our last encounter a fortnight ago, the tackling pressure was a feature of our game and no doubt the boys will be keen to replicate that level of intensity in this weekend's match. The week off did the world of good for players and officials alike and we are ready for the challenge that awaits on Saturday. Our helpers and officials were thanked in last week's edition, but we must again acknowledge the achievement of first year Bloods senior coach Aaron Tymms, and his assistants Leigh Wilson, Bob Heaney and Andrew Button for the work they have put in throughout the 2018 season.
Bloods TV: Thank you to all the players and guests who have contributed to our social media content this year. Jake Buttigieg's "Roaming Pig" in the rooms following a Bloods win has been a huge success, as has Footy Smarts, Goose of the Week and the Weekend Wrap. Thanks to the crew from Melton Community Radio 97.9fm for the commentary in recent weeks that has accompanied our game highlights, and to our own Jai Whitehand for the voiceover work on the home game promo videos. Jump onto our Facebook page to watch anything you might have missed. Hopefully there will be one more edition of Roaming Pig to come following Saturday's game!
Henderson Medal Night: Congratulations to all our awards winners from the Henderson Medal Night. Matt Denham - Runner up in the Henderson Medal, Braedan Kight – Goal of the year, Aaron Tymms – Coach of the year. Ben Archard, Braedan Kight and Matt Denham in the Team of the Year with Aaron Tymms named as the coach. Rachel Guthrie polled well to be Runner up in the D Grade Netball and Morgan Bleszcz 4th in the 19 and Under Netball. A good result for the Bloods all round.
Bloods Shop: A delivery of 200 stubby holders arrived on Tuesday night and we don't expect these to last long. They'll be selling for $5 each. We have plenty of Bloods t-shirts but a very limited range of hoodies, polo shirts, caps, beanies and puffer vests. Drop into the clubrooms on Thursday night for all last minute purchases!
This Weekend: The big one awaits and pulses are racing in Bloods Country. It has been a long campaign with glimmers of hope and despair and the surge towards the finals which gave us all hope. We know the boys will do us proud. We take a deal of pride in the fact that 21 of the 22 are the products of our Junior Club. We have had a policy of promoting our juniors for several years now and finally the results are showing.
We wish all teams competing on Grand Final Day the best of luck in their games and we are sure it will be a great match in the Seniors where the Bloods youngsters will rise to the challenge.
Whatever the result it is we head back to Maccy Park after Saturday's game and hope to see all true Bloods Supporters there.
GO BLOODS
