We played our final home game for season 2018 last Saturday and it was a great day on the footy field with wins to our seniors and reserves against Sunbury.
The senior team made it six wins in a row and locked in a finals appearance for the first time since 2007 with a 53 point win. While it was hard to find standout players in a very even team performance, those who had a ticket with Lachlan Walker’s name on it for best on ground picked up the cash. JH, Billy, Ryan Carter and Cottsy were among the better players, with Souts chipping in for 3 goals and Kighty added another 2 goals to take him to 39 for the season.
The Reserves turned things around completely, after arguably the worst performance of the year against Ballarat to the best of the year against Sunbury in the space of a week. Jordy Kight kicked 4 goals with Kyle Derose, Silso and Bobby Bartlett all playing valuable roles. The win puts us a game and some percentage clear in 6th spot and hopefully we can retain that position after the final round of matches.
Our Unders finish up their season on Saturday. It’s been a tough year but the boys should be commended on the commitment they’ve shown this year and hopefully they can finish off with a win. Many of the boys are eligible to remain in the Unders next year with an age increase in the BFL to Under 19s. In addition, we look forward to welcoming some new faces from the Junior club.
Speaking of the Juniors, congratulations to all involved in last weekend’s U17A Grand Final victory. You only need to look at our current Senior team to realise the importance of our Junior club and we are very appreciative of the work done by all the Junior coaches, assistants, parents and committee to develop the next generation of Bloods Senior footballers.
No good news from the Netball Courts this week with all sides going down against the Sunbury girls. However, the Under 19s and D Grade teams are holding down positions in the top six and are looking forward to some finals action.

We can’t stress enough how valuable our sponsors are to the club and now is a good time to wave the flag and go see our local businesses that support our club. Whether it is a new house or a car or general goods and services, there is often a club sponsor who can help. Sponsor of the week is Peters Multi Services, who has supplied the club’s trophies for as long as I can remember. Peter is always helpful and willing to assist in even small jobs such as shoe repairs, cutting keys, gifts, engraving and so forth.
