It was an incredible day, Saturday, one we have never seen before. The Un19’s had the worst of the weather and found Blackburn a lot tougher than last week when they played them, Our boys got the job done in the end.
The Seniors then had the mid day start and faced a very undermanned Knox with 20 injuries and no under 19’s to bring up. The result was never in doubt, however it was a chance to increase our percentage and that we did by kicking the highest score by any Club this season with our two star forwards booting 15 between them. The Knox footy Club are doing their best and doing with great dignity despite them failing to win a game. Last year at this time, were on top of 2nd Div. undefeated.
We had a couple more debut players in Jack O’Keefe and Jack Furey and they copped the usual drenching in the song circle. There has been a conscious effort by the Senior Coach to introduce as many youngsters as possible. So far this year we have used 39 different players .
The Women’s game was dominated by a very switched on Vermont team that were supercharged with the support they received over the fence. They won in a landslide and made Knox’s day even worse.
The Ladies Lunch was sensational and full credit to organizer Michelle Hemmings. 137 ladies had a wonderful lunch featuring Dee Dee Dunleavy and pushed on afterwards with live Band to dance the afternoon and part of the night away.
The Patterson Cheney Holden vehicle that the Coach turned up in certainly was a talking point. The vehicle is available for the Football Club’s use, and the Coach just happened to need some wheels. The question is, how will we get it off him.
