BLOODS BANTER: Round 12
We had four seasons in one day last Saturday against North City at Maccy Park with a strong wind making difficult conditions for players. Our Reserves and Senior teams returned to the winner’s list but it wasn’t a great day for our Under 18s who took until the last minute of the game to register their first score. Mawson and Whitehand stood out for the Unders and both will be looking to return to the senior line up before the end of the season. In the reserves we were aided by a few players returning from injury. Baker was strong in front of goal, with Wilson, Huckstepp and Ericson among our best players, while Big Reds made his return to the Bloods after a last hour clearance on June 30 and was strong down back. In the Seniors, inaccuracy in front of goal nearly cost us again – 7 goals, 15 behinds this time. The Carter brothers led the way with Liam up forward and Ryan down back, but the contribution was good across the board. We’ve managed to get back to 5 wins, 5 losses and remain within striking distance of the Top 6.
Over on the Netball Court, the 19 and Under girls kept up their winning ways with B, C and D grade taking wins as well. All in all a pretty good on field result for the Bloods.
The Netball girls took over the clubrooms after the days events for a PJ Party & Games Night which by all accounts was well attended.
Tickets are out for the BIG 10K draw and for the “Toyota Good for Football” Raffle. If you have not got your tickets see Rayza for the 10k draw and Clarky for the Toyota raffle. The more tickets sold the better for the club as funds are always needed.
This week we look forward to taking on Redan at home. Such is the draw, we only played Redan six weeks ago and look forward to returning the hospitality they offered us at City Oval on June 2nd.
A great day was had by all at our Sponsors Luncheon. Thanks Nabby for organising the attendees, catering and the Guest Speaker. Sponsor of the week is Q Lounge. Thanks to Michelle and her crew for the catering at our Sponsors lunch. All reports received were highly favourable. Thanks also Mick for supplying the prawns. Speaking of prawns Tiger had a good day cleaning up the remaining prawns and also winning the ½ time Bertocchi hamper raffle.
