The Lismore Swans have demolished the Nimbin Demons by 172 points in the second semi final at Ballina's Fripp Oval 26.25-181 to 1.3-9. A scrappy start resulted in Nimbin kicking the first goal of the match. However it was all Lismore from then on, the Swans playing some sensational connecting and sharing football to hand Nimbin a thrashing. If it were not for the Swans inaccuracy in the first half the final margin would have been much larger.
Every player contributed to the win as the Swans stamped there authority on the game. The Swans have pointed out that they are a threat to every team they come across in the finals. The midfield worked hard and ran all day with Daniel Flint giving the Swans first use of the football at every bounce. The forward line provided many options with Adam Rhodes, Jake Ryan and Wesley Seewald marking strongly as Roly Barrett roved the forward line. The Swans midfield constantly drove the ball forward putting Nimbin’s defence under pressure. Mitch Grivins proved a handful at full forward in the second half kicking 7 goals for the match.
The half backline stood strong rebounding the ball forward and limiting Nimbin’s opportunities. The Swans running football and finding the best option was a pleasure to watch and if they continue to play like this in the finals they will be a force to be reckoned with.
All played well, best players included Mitch Montgomery, Daniel Flint, Wesley Seewald, Mitch Grivins, Jake Ryan and Roly Barrett.
8 goal kickers for 26 goals coming from Mitch Grivins with 7, 5 each to Wesley Seewald and Roly Barrett, 3 to Adam Rhodes, 2 each to Josh Mapstone and Daniel Bruce, and 1 each to Jake Ryan and Richard Blundell.
This week the all important preliminary final at Bangalow against Byron Bay. Do or die match, the Swannies to put up a big performance.
