Seniors
With ground conditions resembling that of a bi-gone era, we returned to an old rival in Congupna for the first time since ‘95. Unfortunately, we were unable to put a dampener on their premiership reunion celebrations, going down by 27 points. After a fairly even 1st quarter that finished up 3 goals to 2 in their favour, Congupna extended the lead during the 2nd with 3 goals to 1, with us heading in to half-time 20 points down. It was goal for goal in the 3rd, with 3 goals apiece. The 4th quarter became more free scoring as the boys were urged to take more risks ending up adding another 4.2 to the scoreboard. Congupna were up to the challenge though, when a goal to them after the final siren saw them add 5.2 of their own. Regardless of the greasy conditions, our skill errors & inconsistency let us down again. Will Jeffery (BOG) continues to relish in his role in the leadership group, leading by example with his attack on the ball & effort around the whole ground. Muntzy was given a job to do by the coaches pre-game & performed it well, Bubbles won more than his fair share of the hard ball while Brady Black had his best game of the year so far. Frapps again was dominant in the ruck & Rex continues his good form. Congrats to Jack Harcoan (sub) on playing his first senior game for the club.
Reserves
It was terrible conditions for footy last weekend with a wet oval making hard. It was the first time facing the old rival Congupna, in years and we didn’t play up to the hype. We moved the ball well at stages and dominated the second quarter but couldn’t convert in front of goals. We entered half time 19 points down, but we still felt in the contest. Credit to Congupna in the third quarter as they effectively put us to the sword kicking 3.4 to our nothing. Our last quarter was much better, and we showed the type of footy we can play despite the conditions. However, it wasn’t enough with Congupna eventually running out 38-point winners. Frasier Opie was again amongst the best with his outstanding work in defence. Jack Nelson also played well despite a different role in defence. Fergus Russell, Duayne Giles and Sam Cowling were hard at it all day and constantly put their heads over the ball. Miah Shannon was also good providing a constant target up forward. It was also good to see Andrew Riordan back in Katandra colours last weekend for the first time in years. We now look forward to a tough assignment against Nathalia this week but if we play like we did in the last quarter we should be able to tough out a favourable result.
Thirds
In an entertaining game, we unfortunately suffered a narrow defeat to Congupna which would have been a tough pill for the boys to swallow. The 1st quarter was a disappointing one as Congupna got the jump on us by kicking 3.4 to nothing. After a fair rev up at quarter time, the boys responded well winning plenty of the footy during the 2nd quarter & getting a few scores on the board. Starting the 3rd quarter down by 3 goals, we limited them to only 1 behind while we kicked 2.1 ourselves as the boys continued to shift the momentum our way by winning the one on one contests and making some great passages of play. Heading into the last quarter 8 points adrift we gave ourselves every chance of snatching the win with 4 more scoring shots but kicking 1.3 & Congupna getting a vital goal saw the margin finish at 5 points.
Mitch Black (BOG) played a great game across at half back & through the middle, Ango Jeffery at CHB has made that position his own, while Riley Sanders was great through the wings & half forward. Quinn Shannon, Lachie Dempsey & Jack Harcoan all relished the ‘wet’ conditions, consistently being hard over the footy & winning the contested ball.
Fourths
On a scale of awesomeness, last week was way up there, not because of the win but because of the all over team effort, the confidence was up and it showed, well done boys let's see if it can carry forward into today's game, Ball award went to Finn and Towel award to Riley for displays of some good in and under determined play. Best was Lachie, Talon, Finn, Fletcher, Ned, Riley, Euan & the rest of the team. Bring on today time for the Kat's to get some more cream.

Fantastic effort today girls. Unfortunately, we couldn’t walk away with the win. Keep your heads up we are improving every week.

Good effort girls. Unfortunately, we were today out classed by a better opposition. Keep working hard at training and the results will come.

Due to shortages this last week, we had to play some different combos. As a team you support one another and it’s great to see and hear. We will continue to work converting all your hard-defensive efforts. Well done to Congupna on winning the third quarter. BOC Dani, Erin & Lily - welcome back

A superb team effort saw us come away with a great win. Our timing was spot on all game which helped us transition the ball from defence to attack smoothly. Best on went to the whole team for all your efforts on and off the court.

Congratulations girls – a great win. The score did not reflect how tough the game was. The game showed how hard both teams have been working at training. Keep up the good work. Best on to Jaz – Hungry Jacks, great work in defence and Mikalya – Star Bowl, fantastic moving in the ring.
