Simon also becomes the 16th boundary umpire to reach 50 BDAFL matches in the boundary umpiring discipline.
To date, Simon has umpred 27 matches in the Black Diamond Cup (Premier Competition), 16 in Plate, 3 in Second Division, 2 in Reserves and 2 Women's matches.
In 2016, McCauley, the father of fellow umpires, Lincoln and Miles, umpired the 2nd Division Grand Final and in 2017, he went one better and umpired the First Division Grand Final.
Could this be the year that the man affectionately known as "Carl Barron" reaches the top of the BDAFL mountain?
With a great sense of humour and a willingness to mentor and work with the younger umpires of the group, Simon is a terrific asset to the group and a valued member of the NCCUA.
The NCCUA wishes Simon McCauley all the very best for his milestone match.
