Gotcha4Life Charity Round for U17's & U18YG's
This Sunday sees the inaugural Western Sydney GIANTS Juniors "Gotcha4Life" Charity Round. While the region will be... raising money for Gus Worland's Gotcha4Life Charity, this weekend is more about raising awareness for youth mental health.
Young people’s mental health is extremely important, unfortunately we lose far too many young people every day to suicide (6 young men every day in Australia) and we are hoping that this Sunday, as our young man and women take the field, they take a moment to check in on their friend and ask ‘If they are ok?’ This will be a day to start a conversation with our young players, let them know what Gotcha4Life is and that this Sunday they are all playing for each other, as teammates, as friends. AFL and team sport is a great healthy environment for our young men and women, so please use this day to encourage them to start conversations and to ask their mates if the are ok but to also let someone know if they are not ok.
More information about Gotcha4Life can be found through their website http://gotcha4life.org/
The region will be hosting 8 games of junior football at Blacktown International Sportspark Sydney with over 300 players and family members supporting this great cause.
We would like to give a special mention to Baulkham Hills Australian Football Club and Emu Plains Glenmore Park Lions as this year marks the second year that the Emu Plains Glenmore Park Lions and Baulkham Hills Under 17s teams play for the “Kayne McDonagh Cup” in memory of Kayne who played for EPGP Lions. This game will be played at 4pm on Sunday on Oval 1 - it would be great if everyone could stay to support this game.
We thank all clubs and supporters for their support of this weekend's charity round.
