Seniors
Windy conditions at Cobram meant for a challenging day for both teams to score at the southern end of the ground however Cobram managed 3 valuable goals against the breeze in the 1st qtr while we wasted our opportunities, only kicking the 2. Unfortunately we struggled against the breeze in the 2nd, not managing a score while Cobram had 13 scoring shots (5.8) forcing the coaches to question the players desire & intent. Our 3rd qtr was a much improved effort, kicking 5.4 to Cobrams 1 goal as we brought the deficit in from 43 points to 15 by 3 qtr time. We were unable to peg them back in the 4th however only managing 1 goal while another 11 scoring shots (4.7) & few late goals to Cobram saw them finish the game 40 point winners. Jeffers was named BOG for his work in the middle & was well supported by Corka (the only multiple goal kicker for us with 3) & Bubbles. Rum was solid in defence while Zane & Chalks played great games through the wings. Looking forward to another challenge against Mulwala today.
Reserves
This week we took on Cobram and with a howling wind favouring one end it was hard work all day. We managed to restrict them to one goal in the first quarter with the wind but failed to capitalise when had the wind in the second quarter. We went into half time only two points up and battled hard in the third quarter. We failed to make the most of our opportunities against the wind in the third quarter which saw us 17 points down heading into the last quarter. We came home with a wet sail in the last quarter but couldn’t quite gain the appropriate ground failing four points short. Fergus Russell and Riley Mann were the best on ground with their attack on the ball standing out. Jack Nelson and Frasier Opie provided plenty of run from the wing and half back respectively. Quinn Shannon also played a good game coming up from the thirds, while Sam Walters battled hard in the ruck all day. We now look forward to taking on Mulwala after the bye and hopefully register another win.
Thirds
The boys have been making some great progress on the training track & that has been seen with some great passages of play in recent weeks despite being up against some of the league leaders. There has been plenty of positive comments from supporters praising the group with how they are going about it & the style of play the boys are putting together.
No doubt the boys would’ve liked a few more than the 2 goals on the board against Cobram but skill errors against a team as skilful as the tigers made it difficult to maintain possession.
In the backline, Manni & Brendan put in their best performances so far. Both boys were rarely beaten, if at all, one on one & followed this up with some clean possession getting the ball to their team mates around them. Jack & Jonah were again solid across half back doing their best to rebound the constant forward entries by Cobram. Quinn put in another solid effort through the middle & Noah did another great effort with limited opportunities across half forward & then in to the middle in the last qtr. This week should be a great contest against Mulwala who are also yet to get their first win. No doubt both teams will give it their all in their desire to get the 4 points.
A Grade
A Grade game came down to the last quarter and it could of been anyone’s game Cobram got away with a few confidence goals and just took the win from us . Standout defence from Bec Osmond, Amanda Elliot and Hope Irvine. Our attack end stepped up this week with a lot of ball going forward into goals. We just need to keep pushing for four quarters.

The girls made a positive start in windy conditions. The ball wasn't dropping easily for us into goals. Credit to everyone on court as they didn't give up and showed some very impressive team work, best on court went to Kirsten who had many defensive spoils throughout 4 quarters great to see all team members backing each other and fighting for a win

You did it ladies.! Great team game with contributions from all 9 players. We stuck to our game plan, backed each other up and moved better down the court. Well done, really proud of what you achieved not only today but week after week as a new team. BOC Nell and Georgie

Today we come off a break and push to redeem ourselves after a tough draw to Cobram. We had some great passages of play but couldn’t maintain that for the whole game, struggling to play our game and making the simple tasks difficult. We have had some great training over the last two weeks so let’s reward our hard work with a great game of netball.
