Back home this weekend after a very welcome break. The last game at Sunbury under lights was a less than pretty affair with the Bloods going down by a slim margin in a low scoring game. Conditions were atrocious as seems to be a pattern for this round in recent years. Still both sides were out there and we can’t really use the weather as an excuse. The Ressies also lost as did the Unders. The young lads were a bit stiff as a last minute “goal” was overruled by the umpire. The Netballers snagged two out five with the 19s and D Grade taking wins. Last but not least, Bruce Clark won the meat tray raffle.
Prior to the Sunbury game, our Thursday night meals were prepared by our netballers. Thanks for all your effort - the pasta dishes were fantastic.
This weekend we are meeting Ballarat at home and hopefully the weather will be pleasant at Maccy Park. With two wins and two losses, this is a vital game for our Senior team. For those who can't make the game, it will be broadcast as the Game of the Round on 97.9fm in Melton. As usual, it will be a busy day on the netball court with the Under 19 girls looking to remain unbeaten when the action begins at 10am.
Ladies day is Saturday 9th June (vs Bacchus Marsh) and bookings are now open on the trybooking website. Also following the game on the 9th is our first major draw of the year. See Rayza for tickets and be in for a share of the $3000 major prize.
Another reminder for memberships. There are still quite a number of players owing money. Five rounds in the season and one would hope this would be sorted out. The club never wants to impose selection limits on coaches but in all fairness a player who has paid up should get preference over one who has not. Guys make an effort. We can arrange weekly or fortnightly repayments via direct debit. See Butters, Jamo or Clarky for forms.
Congratulations to all our players who made the interleague squad. Ben Archard and Billy Crofts played in the Senior match. Jai Whitehand and Luke Heaney represented the Under 18.5’s. Well done guys.
Volunteers – We are still on the lookout for volunteers for Team Manager roles in the Senior and Reserves squads. If you can give us a hour or two on a Saturday, helping with the paperwork, it will be greatly appreciated.
Sportsco in Woodgrove are holding a “Trade Night” for Bloods players and supporters on Friday night June 15th 6:30 pm onwards with substantial discounts across the store. Drop in and snag a bargain. Don’t forget to wear some maroon and show the colours.
Saturday July 7th is our Sponsors Luncheon with guest speaker (vs North City). Meltonians and sponsors please keep this date free. More details to follow.
Sponsors of the week are Hotondo Homes and Midway Concrete and Garden Supplies. Please support our sponsors as they do a wonderful job in supporting your club.
