Seniors
Tough day out hosting Moama who were determined to get their season back on track & looking to get back up towards the pointy end of the ladder. Our boys had another reminder about the importance of being consistent throughout an entire game & that just because you play a great game one week & get a win, it doesn’t guarantee another win the following week. Previously we have had lapses in a game for a whole quarter where on this occasion it was probably 3 separate 10-minute lapses that cost us the most. After being down at quarter time by 3 goals & conceding the first goal in the 2nd, we had a spirited fight back pegging them back to be even by halfway through the quarter only to let the kick away again & go in to half time 5 goals adrift. Unfortunately, the 2nd half didn’t fair much better managing only 3 more goals in the half to their 7, eventually finishing the game 10 goals down.
Tom Jeffrey in his 1st game for the year was BOG for his defensive effort, Jonty also played a great game in his cameo, while some of our leaders in Bubbles (2 goals), Hickford (3 goals) & Matt Riordo also had strong games.
Reserves
Filled with confidence after last weeks victory we attacked the contest hard in the first half going into the break a goal down. However, the same effort didn’t return after half time. We chose which contest we wanted to go to rather than attacking everyone with the same vigour we did in the first half. Moama eventually ran out 74-point winners. Lachlan Dunkley was best a field with multiple intercepts and rebound from half back. Jake Woods and Ryleigh Shannon also provided plenty of rebound from half back. Duayne Giles and Riley Mann were good again in the middle while Aaron Shillington provided a spark up forward with a couple of fantastic pressure acts. We now look to regroup and play a more complete game against Cobram next week.
Thirds
Another great test for our boys to come up against genuine 3rds contender in Moama. Unfortunately, too many bigger bodies across every line made it difficult for our boys. They should hold their heads high though as to register 6 scoring shots (unfortunate we couldn’t be more accurate only kicking the 1 goal) against Moama who in 2 of their previous games had kept their opponents scoreless, with another only managing a goal also, the boys still won their fair share of the footy. Our skills probably weren’t as clean as the previous week also, if we keep working on our consistency, wins will come. Jonah earnt BOG with his intercepting & rebound work across half back, Tim Trewin won plenty of hit outs in the ruck & was solid too when spending time as a key defender, Jack H had another consistent game while Noah Dunham had his best game playing across high half forward. Ango is starting to find another gear as his fitness builds & Will Garner did a great job adapting to a variety of positions he was asked to play. Looking forward to another great challenge in Cobram this week!
Fourths
Hard climb up the hill last week, with a desperate effort in the second half too reduce the scoring by the opposition. Showing some " in and under" grit was Kyle, with Talon and Bailey having some stoic defensive play. The tall boys Lachie and Ned new what it was like to look up to the opposition but tried hard. Fletch and Euan battled. After some hard training this week focussing on hard ball effort we face a great challenge to test our re-enforced vigour. Good luck boys.
A Grade
A grade came up against a very strong and structured side in Moama. Bec Osmond had plenty of the ball in defence along with Rachel Anderson together having a standout game with plenty of intercepts and spoils that created many turnovers our way. Positive signs all down the court having equal scoring opportunities, we did have a more free flowing game down to goals and stepped it up with the defensive pressure all over the court. Let's string 4 quarters together this week and finish the game with a win and a full A grade side.
B Grade
A great performance by B grade with a steady start and strong performances from Jacinta Pollard and Nikea Grinter in goals, both proving to be a solid combination. All on court gave 4 quarters off effort from start to finish with the help of Brooke Barr and Jade Warters who took on a very big challenge in defence with determination and a never stop attitude. Mid court players Liarna, Kate and Loz showed their versatility in each position they played competitively all game. And really made the opponents work for their win.
C Grade
Last weekend brought us our best game of the season so far. It was visible that everything we've been working on at training has been paying off. Our timing throughout the court was much better this week, now to focus on keeping up a consistent 4 quarter's. Let's get out there today and work together as the team that we are.

What a match, with an injury in the 1st 5 mins and a lot more physical than we have had before, we had a challenge. We’ll need to work on improving court positions, coming to the ball and power passes. Well done on winning the last quarter, we always set goals and you delivered that. BOC Nicole D and Lily

Well done girls on a top effort against a strong Moama side. Although we didn’t come away with the win it was great to see us adjust to new combinations and fight to the final whistle. Continue putting the effort in at training and we will continue to see positive results. Best on went to Brooke M, Brooke B and Briar.

A great effort by the Katandra girls as they put in a great fight against a well polished Moama team. We ticked the little boxes that we wanted to work on from training so there were lots of positive things to come out of the game. Best on went to Gretel in GD who got plenty of touches as well as Sarah in GK.
