SENIORS
Round 16 saw us travel to Trumper Park which was always going to be a tough encounter. 1st quarter saw us kick to an early lead, dominating possession, kicking long into the forward line but UTS were able to kick a couple of late goals to keep them in the game.
2nd quarter, first bounce saw either very bad luck for our ruckman or very good coaching from UTS to take our dominating ruckman out of the game, which unfortunately was probably the turning point. Full credit goes to young U18 debutant Hobo who rucked the rest of the game in his debut in senior footy against a top opposition with minimal support.
In the 2nd quarter UTS upped the pressure, where the Mac boys seemed to panic and not go long to full forward as per plan but rather going to the half forward flanks which UTS were able to rebound easily rebound.
This was addressed at half time and the 3rd quarter saw us play a better brand of footy and felt that we were taking up to UTS.
4th quarter saw UTS come out and kick the first goal which unfortunately in hindsight set the game on course for a UTS win.
To the boys credit they fought on and made UTS work hard for the win. Hugh had a great game in the backline, JJ worked tirelessly as ruck rover all day due to injuries, also with Phil, Bushy, Hobo and TJ who having strong games. This week sees our season on the line against the Goannas with the winner taking the final spot. If we play with the same attitude as the previous week it will be a cracker game.

RESERVES
The house of Pain that is what Trumper is becoming for us.
We played so well and tussled with these guys only a matter of weeks ago but today they simply out muscled us from the ball and had their way with us.
We will regroup this week for the game against the Goannas, another of the rivals, and one game we cannot afford to loose.
We started alright and after he first quarter we were not far away but again we fed them the ball and created our own turnovers that helped them along and let them build the scoreboard instead of our own.
We lost Scotty to the game at the start of the 2nd quarter and I am hoping he is right for the finals as he put a scare through the team with pins and needles to the legs. Claw not long after took a massive hit to the ribs and he too was gone.
The halfback line again were solid along with the rest of the backs and it was Funky and Busta the big guys that met them head on muscle with muscle, it was like watching the WWF on Saturday afternoon.
Around the ground we looked good but we must stop kicking the ball to packs that out number us and on a field like the house of pain you must be prepared to fight to win everything and we probably fought for about 45% of the ball.
We take out of the game that we kept to less than 25 point for the entire second half and we will have to do this and better come grand final day should we play well enough to make it.
They are an extremely good side and god help Parra this week as I want revenge and they will pay dearly for our loss today.
Bad result was the reporting of 2 time McFaralane medal winner Jockey and conflicting statements will see him play this week all going well. No serious injury I feel and we need to start locking down finals team so guys give me everything on the paddock to secure the 24 spots up for grabs
See you on the paddock

U18’s
An 8:15am kick off greeted us last week and when we arrived there was frost on the ground and the boys were in no hurry to get changed.
A slow start saw us in a real contest with East Coast at their home ground and we were lucky to be up at qtr time by 5 points. If not for the efforts of Red, Dylan and Bubsy we could of been down by a lot more and some inaccurate kicking by East Coast in the second qtr 2g 5b to our 1g 3b leaving us 3 points down at half time.
The second half saw a real arm wrestle with neither side able to break away but with Belly & Pooley working hard to create we were down by 5 points at 3/4 time.
The last qtr saw the crowd get vocal and Don Bull was continuing his good form from last week goaled with less than 5 minutes left to put our nose in front but we rushed a behind with 2 minutes left to level the game.
We ran the ball with our last roll of the dice through the centre and after a chain of handballs managed to kick a behind with about 20 seconds remaining to win in a cliff hanger by 1 point.
Much thanks to all the parents who were out nice and early to help and cheer the boys on.
