An undermanned outfit took the field against a red hot St. Kilda City outfit. Whilst the sight of Burns and Champion in the late game would have lifted the spirits, the sight of the coach making his senior debut had to be a worry. The plan was to take their talls out of the game by us using the ball well and not bombing to contests. At quarter time we were only a couple of goals down after kicking into a stiff breeze. The efforts of the backline in the second quarter saw us go the main break 6 goals behind.
However you can only hold the ocean back with a broom for so long. The volume of opportunities provided to the St.Kilda City forwards enabled them to come away with a comfortable win. Dean Kovacic battled hard against the odds along with Murph, Leights Bongo, Charlsey , Champ and Forsy. St Kilda showed us the level that we need to get to; it’s up to everyone at the club to work to get there.
Riley’s Reserves had another good win, getting home by 54 points. John Charles and Mark Williams kicked 9 between them, with Marc Fullarton again in the best along with Andrew Sharp, David Ford and Shane Doig.
