The Avoca Football Netball Club is saddened by the news, of the passing of Kevin Matthews. Affectionately known as “Jerk”.
Kevin was a great supporter over many years. He played in our Junior and Reserves football teams in the 1960’s and 1970’s, and was a club medical trainer along with Harold Bradley, and Lot Barker, in our Premiership years of 1980 and 1981.
He also received the Best Clupberson award in 1977 which he was very proud of as his father Mick received the award in 1961, and also the year before Kevin in 1976.
The Matthews Family was a strong Avoca Bulldogs Family, with Kevin’s parents Mick and Gwen both being Life Members of our club.
Our condolences to Kevin’s family members.
Funeral will be held as a graveside service at the Avoca Cemetery next Tuesday 27th March at 2pm, then back to the Avoca Public Park.
Kevin is pictured at right in the 1980 premiership team.
