Thursday, August 7 will mark 150 years since the first recorded game of football was played between Scotch College and Melbourne Grammar School.
To celebrate this milestone, Kick Around Australia Day has been scheduled, giving all Australians the opportunity to join in the celebrations.
As part of Kick Around Australia Day, primary and secondary schools around the country are encouraging students to wear their footy colours to school, organise kicking and handballing competitions or complete one of the new footy themed programs that have been developed in line with the curriculum.
Belconnen Magpies Football Club and the Belconnen Cats Junior Club are helping St Michael's Primary School in Kaleen to celebrate Kick Around Australia Day.
St Michael's students will particiapte in football skills during their lunch time break and enjoy some prizes and giveaways. Senior players Andrew Ainger, Julien Moussi and Sam Power will be in attendance helping students to enjoy their day of footy activities.
