The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and by doing so equips them to participate meaningfully in society. The Foundation uses the existing passion that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boys have for football to attract them into school and keep them there.
Specifically for Season 2018, the Oakleigh Dragons are seeking donations of footy boots to send to the remote NT communities of Gove, Nhulunbuy and Gunbalunya. We know our kids' feet tend to grow faster than they wear out boots, so we would love to send them to someone that would get a great deal of joy out of receiving and using them!
We will be collecting your donations at the upcoming Welcome Night to be held on Friday March 16th (more information to follow). In the meantime, if you could go through your cupboards and clean up your old footy boots ready for donation, we know the Clontarf Foundation will be delighted to receive them.
We would also love to hear from anyone that has any freight contacts that could assist with us sending them up.
