We are pleased to announce that Steve Layt has been appointed as the Senior Coach of the Panton Hill Football Club for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Steve has been the Reserves Coach for the past two seasons, and whilst there was no official succession plan in place after the retirement of Joffa Byron, Steve’s existing knowledge of the Club and the playing group is a massive advantage. The Club wished to advertise the Senior coaching position to make sure that the Club was able... to secure the best option it could. Steve understood this, and went through the same interview process as the other applicants. To Steve’s credit his attention to detail, and thorough preparation shone through.
Despite a tough 2017 season, Joffa has been able to successfully re-build a new core group of players, after the exit of some long term senior players after the 2016 season. Most importantly, the Club has a very enthusiastic and talented leadership group, led by Captain Mitch Anderson and Vice-Captain Scott Conte. Steve can be confident he has a good core group of players to work with in the coming seasons.
After a few tough years in Division 2, it’s now time to get the Club re-settled, and for the players to get back to the enjoyment of football. Steve, with his extensive coaching experience, is the right man to take the Club back to the road of success.
