SENIORS
Round 13 saw Nor West hit us up at home. After a good win against Penrith the guys were ready for another good win.
Big Kev and Hamma started off on fire out of the middle getting us first option time and time again and the forwards plenty of opportunity to kick goals. With a 10 goal 6 behind 1st quarter the game had been set up.
2nd quarter saw Nor West Jets show a bit of fight putting pressure on our players which created several turn overs and our players all wanting to drift forward and kick goals. This was addressed half time and the 3rd and 4th quarter continued in the same vein as the first.
Some very good individual efforts with Whytey and Reece having outstanding games with plus 40 possessions each. Big Kev with 56 hit outs was dominant in the ruck. Rooster stepped up to his first game of Seniors was able to slot a couple – from set shots too!!!
This coming week against Manly will be hard and after being blown off the park last time, we are looking forward.
Mac Uni 28-27-195 beat Nor West 0-2-2

RESERVES
Nor West were always going to give us a hard game and they certainly came to our home to play. We had the focus on the game to come away with a win to keep us in touch with the top three and I think we achieved the plan.
We started a little sluggish but Pharlap was tapping to the onballers fantastic. Big Salmon was coming out of the packs and looking forward hitting targets and got a few up on them in the later stages of the quarter. We kept to our routine of changing the onballers to keep the head and legs fresh and again this seemed to work.
Claw was instrumental in the backline and kept the guys on their players and always knew where the ball was going and had someone to cover it. We lost Rooster to the 1st but this week Scotty put his hand up to be the forward line go to man and the ball he got from this was a credit to his determination to not let the ball go inside 50 without a result. The forwards this week copped a lot more pressure form the Jets backline with some pretty hard tackling and they knew it was going to be a hard day.
Half time we were up by 5 points and we just needed to play smarter footy if were to shut them out of the game, we spoke again about disciplines and team rules so that when we start the second half we have to as though it is the start of the game again. We did not come out as fiery in the quarter and the Jets got 2 easy goals. Again it was not through hard play, we simply gave them the ball and watched them do something with it. If we are to beat the better sides in the comp we have to play 4 full quarters of footy and commit to every opportunity to win the ball.
I would like to hank the 3rd grade players that made up a third of the side today for helping out and I thank them for the commitment to the club. I know it is hard as they have had a couple off forfeits over the past weeks but they played good football today and it will not be forgotten.
Two stand outs this week was Scotty in the forwards making opportunities and unselfish football to give assistance to all the guys in making the opportunities in scoring for us. Pharlap, well that mark on the wing in the last quarter he was so high off the ground and the hands were instrumental nothing was going to stop him taking the mark of the year, if not this century. I spoke to the guy he climbed over after the game and he said that was sore for the effort but he felt good and had a good game and it's not everyday that you get the opportunity to be a stepladder for a giant and asked if that was Lockett that climbed him.
Anyhow we have a massive ask this week and one that all 22 will have to come with the heads on and stick to game plan number 131. Thank you again to my assistant David who has been a blessing to me over the past few weeks.
See you on the paddock

U18’s
Saturday saw us taken on the undefeated UNSW/ES team, A game we had been looking forward to, to see where we are at.
Unfortunately we were unable to go with the run and numbers to the contest of the ladder leaders in the first half which saw them have 13 first half scoring shots to our 5. Rob and Nathan down back were working tirelessly but got little support and we went into half time down by 30 points.
After asking the boys to have an honest look at their first half they came out in the 3rd qtr and played more like we knew they could, Timmy and Bubsy stepped it up but we couldn't put it on the scoreboard until the last qtr but by then it was to late. Dylan, Belly and Mobbsy had strong finishes to the game but UNSW/ES ended up running out winners by 31 points.
