The afternoon started with a tribute to player/coach and life member Shane Carey. The Swans had plenty of support on the boundary line in what ended up being a great spectacle.
The Bombers kicked the first couple of the quarter before the Swans stepped into second gear and moved the ball quickly from the backline to the forward line to kick a few of there own. Wesley Seewald proving dangerous up forward. A couple of late goals to the Bombers put them up by 4 points at the first break
The Swans commenced the second term in fantastic fashion skipping away to a 14 point lead before Ballina kicked another couple of late goals to see the Swans lead by 2 points at half time.
The third quarter was disastrous for the Swans letting Ballina’s runners move the ball forward to find loose men. Umpires handed the Bombers a couple of gimmies to kick 5 goals to 1 for the term and lead by 29 points at the last break.
The Swans needed something inspirational in the final term and they delivered. Lismore kicked 5 goals to 1 in the final term to get within 10 points of Ballina and a couple of opportunities to make it real close however a fantastic display nevertheless.
Final scores Lismore 14.8-92 Ballina 14.18-102. Goal kickers 5 to Wes Seewald, 2 each to George Massa, Dylan Brooks, Tom Morgan and 1 each to Jason Bevan, Roly Barrett and Nick Malone.
Best on the day were Wesley Seewald, Daniel Bruce, Jason Bevan, Tom Morgan, Mitch Montgomery and Lincoln Shinners.
The match was soured by a serious injury to our main ruckman Jason Bevan.
The Swans have a week off before hosting the Nimbin Demons.
