The Rococo Bar and Bistro Noosa tigers moved 3 games clear on top of the Hart Sport Division 1 ladder with an inspiring four goal win over arch enemy Maroochydore last weekend at Weyba Road. With a bustling Ladies Luncheon, a vocal past player contingent coinciding with a 20 and 40 year premiership reunion celebration; the Noosa boys certainly did their massive tiger faithful proud in what was just a cracking contest. The footy was indeed 'very hot' the entire day with the home side running the game out the better and now standing as premiership favourites for season 2017.
The game ebbed and flowed with the Roos on top early however after the main break it was the Tigers who started to gain If not for some inaccurate kicking, the Tigers may have been able to put the game to rest a tad earlier than expected. The difference between the two sides was none other than powerful on baller Tom Templeton whose explosion through the midfield was a treat to watch. The young man wearing number 22 bagged 5 goals from the centre and his run away from the contest was a clear factor in the victory for the Tigers. Mitch Woods again was fantastic for the home side with another impeccable display of skill, poise and precision; whilst the super talented Jai Fitzpatrick again showcased his great array of skilful evasion and sublime finishing. The Tiger backline again held strong with Trompf, Opie, Cameron and young Harry Maher giving great support to starring roles from yet again Laskey and the inform Tom McKitrrick. Coach Sammy Faure was dangerous and busy up forward finishing with three goals whilst ruckman Jaise Coleman and young Connor McDonald continued to build momentum as a serious ruck combination.
As usual Hill and Smeeton provided the grunt in and under to make the victory extremely pleasing to what was just a bumper attendance and a great day of football action. It’s a great position to be in with the representative weekend coming up and also best of luck to Tom Templeton and Jai Fitzpatrick who travel to cairns this weekend to represent South Queensland. As mentioned earlier it’s great to see so many wives and girlfriends enjoying their day at the footy and also to all those past players and ex premiership champions who attended. It was amazing to see names like Grumpy Smith, Donna Blair, Aaron Jaques, the Stewart boys; ‘Big Lama’ and the great Andrew ford back at Tiger headquarters. A great day and night had by all and a big thank you to all those that made it Go Tigers, Cheers Pittsy
