FORMER Geelong Falcons trio, St Mary’s Jack Blood, Newtown & Chilwell’s Mitch Diamond and Jackson McLachlan from St Joseph’s have been named in the Vic Country under-19 team for Saturday clash with the VAFA.
They were among nine GFL players named in the initial squad last month, with Blood’s Saints teammates Paddy Dowling and Pat Killen, McLachlan’s fellow Joey Jack Quinn, Leopold’s Trent Thompson and Colac duo Liam McCarthy and Zach Zdybel missing out.
Blood is part of Geelong’s VFL development list, Diamond has been impressive for the Eagles, playing all 11 games, and McLachlan was the youngest member of the GFL’s Community Championships win over Mornington Peninsula at the MCG in May.
The match-up with the Ammos will be played at Frankston Oval as a curtain raiser to the bi-annual Brian Molony Cup meeting between Vic Country and the VAFA.
