The Coomera Magpies Reserves team made an emphatic statement to the rest of the competition on Saturday, smashing the Pirates by 109 points down at The Nest.
After conceding the first goal of the game, the Pies piled on 11 of their own, dominating in all parts of the ground.
A four quarter effort saw the Pies kick their highest score for the year, 19.14.128 while restricting Park Ridge to 3.1.19.
The game was played almost entirely in Coomera’s forward half; Park Ridge couldn’t move the ball past half-back, and continually turned it over.
Coomera forwards and midfielders had field days, wily goalkicker Mark Correa led the majors tally with seven for the day. On-baller Shane Brady added three, while Jesse Brierley slotted two playing off half-back.
The win came after a disappointing week for the Pies, who were stripped of four premiership points due to a clerical error, which saw their finals chances jeopardised.
Coomera now sit 6th, tied with Moreton Bay and Coolangatta with six wins for the season.
The Pies have a tough run home, which makes this weekend’s clash against Beenleigh an absolute must-win match.
Their match will precede the seniors’, and it kicks off at 10:45 at Dauth Park.
Go Pies!
