SENIORS
This week saw our home game shifted to Gwawley Park – again – through the Sydney wet weather. With 3-4 goal breeze, it would have been a handy toss to win. Unfortunately the Sharks won the toss and kicked with the advantage in the 1st.
The guys came out of the blocks playing well kicking the first 2 goals to get off to a great start, especially moving the ball well.
2nd quarter saw us play very good football and having majority of the play. We dominated the quarter putting 5 straight on the board. Unfortunately, a 3 minutes lapse in concentration at the end of the quarter saw the Sharks put on the 3 late goals to see us move into the break with a 1 goal lead – instead of the much preferable 4.
3rd quarter was always going to be the tough one, with the game in the balance and us heading into the breeze. The sharks play a very fast game, which our guys decided to do the same against the half time talk of tempo footy.
The last quarter saw a very tight tussle with us trying to peg a few back. Both sides played very high quality, hard football and it was a pleasing game to watch I am sure. With us having enough opportunities to wrestle the lead back we were just not capable to capitalise on inside 50’s.
A lot of positives out of the game and with both sides playing a very good brand of football, we can take a lot from it, except for the 4 points yet again.
Hamma led well in the middle and was tireless. A big congratulations goes to Mobbsy playing only his second game in Seniors from U18’s. Big Kev as usual, working tirelessly in the ruck and around the ground.

RESERVES
After a week of wetness we again travel to Gwawley for the game against the Sharks as the ground at home was only fit for soccer. We came into this game with the loss against the Wolves in our minds and we were determined not to lose two in a row. I said the guys that a one point win would keep us in touch with the top three.
We started badly as senior players were late or simply did not turn up. I vented my frustration at this to the team and let them know that if they are serious about playing football at the end off the season then they really need to look at themselves.
I changed the line-up to fit the playing roster and we took to the field with the attitude needed to take it too this Sharks side. I do not know what went wrong between the sheds and the boundary line but something went wrong.
We were lethargic and sloppy across the park. We just did not want the ball and when we had it we turned it over. I spoke at the break and told them to settle it down get to the contest and then decide the next steps. We needed to take it deeper inside 50 as the centre line and onballers were winning more than losing but once inside 50 we simply lost the ball.
Scotty was hurting and we needed a change upfront so we bought Rooster up and moved Rig back to Full Forward, this gave me Plugger back for that determination across the back line. We went into the break at half time just out of it but the ball won and scoreboard for the Sharks was ticking over with our support.
We just kept turning over unwarranted ball possession.
The 3rd quarter was much the same and again we helped them in the scoring dept. We were not out of it at the last break but it made it hard to come back. We needed to build credibility and secure the last quarter, they again got the jump but worked hard and we kicked 5 to their 2 goals. In the end we were beaten on the paddock, but we simply beat ourselves.
Good performances from most players but not getting too training and then not training with footballs is hurting the thinking process I believe.
We must train this week somewhere if not on our field so we touch the footy. UTS at home is going to take all we have to come up with a win instead of 3 losses in a row and to show we are serious about the end of the year. We need to make sure all are at training 2 nights this week so we get some sort of structure around the field.
Rig will be an asset to the club and I welcome him on board and the guys in the forward line will be stronger knowing we have another tall forward down there. Damo, Rooster, Goldy, Plugger and Nico need to win more of the ball and capitalise on the tireless efforts the guys back. Jockey, Stumpy, Hero, Gezza, Salmon, Abbs and Claw are bringing. Rove, Stix and Wazza were pillars today and worked well running off Phah Lap and his merry men Stringer, Blake, Busta and Funky.
Well enough from me but today is the last off the rut and we stand up now and be the side we want to be if you do not want to be apart of something special then please come and have a chat to me.

U18’s
Saturday’s effort by the U18’s was absolutely outstanding!!!
With only 16 players for the entire game everyone gave all they could and most played their best (or equal to) game of the season which was pleasing considering we had no bench.
We applied great pressure in the first half and went into the main break only down by 5 points. The fresh legs of the Sharks took over in the second half but to the boys credit they didn't drop their heads and fought the game out until the final siren to eventually lose by 29 points.
