Football- Seniors. We got off to a good start against the Bulls with Aaron Walklate leading from the front, driving us forward and helping our forwards put on four goals to two in the first term. Aaron sustained a finger injury early in the second term, finishing his day but midfielders Kieran Sait, Sam O’Connor and Shaun Bowles, Dave Romer, Tom Finlay and Dean McKay in defence kept the momentum up. The young forward line of Trent Cossar, Jack Thompson, Connor Lee and Marcus Campbell all competed well to create opportunities and we held a 16 point lead at the main change. The Bulls found space and run in the third term and were able to grab the lead kicking three goals to hold a three point buffer at the last break. The last quarter was a very even contest, both sides kicking two goals two apiece. The game came down to the wire with the Navies having chances to steal the game but we were denied by a ball hitting the post and the Bulls hung on for a narrow victory.
Reserves-Unfortunately we let our opponents jump out of the blocks and then we had a solid second half in what is becoming a pattern for the reserves. Connor Smith was very impressive as was the coach Damo and Danny Wright in the 77 point loss. Shane Fitzpatrick, Nick McCallum and Lachlan Holmes Brown also battled hard for the Navies.

On Saturday we hosted Birchip Watchem football club at home, after a cool start the sun came out for a fantastic day of football. We got off to a great start, both teams were putting on a very good display of footy. Birchip Watchem were first to score and not long before quarter time Elliott Fitzpatrick took a mark on the goal line and went back and kicked Charlton’s first goal. After quarter time Birchip Watchem came out strong and kicked two unanswered goals to lead at half time. Our boys worked hard all day to keep up with Birchip Watchem but were outscored in the third term and they ran out with the win on this occasion. We will have to regroup this week as we have a tough match coming up this week against Donald.
