All three Coomera teams suffered losses this weekend, with the senior men's team losing in particularly brutal fashion.
The Pies were the better side for most of the day, but didn't capitalise on their many entries inside forward 50, ultimately finishing with 10 goals 20 behinds.
In the dying stages of the game, with scores tied, Coomera kicked two consecutive behinds, which proved to be their last scoring shots of the match, as Kedron kicked 1.1 from their two attempts to run out winners.
The final scoreline made for miserable reading for Magpies fans, 10.20.80 to 12.13.85. To have five more scoring shots and lose by as many points to lowly Kedron certainly put a dint in Coomera's premiership aspirations.
After winning five games in a row to open the season, the Magpies have now lost five in a row, but remain two wins and 30% clear of 6th placed Park Ridge.
The Magpies will surely look to make a big statement down at the Nest against Alex Hills this Saturday.
The women's team faced off against 2nd placed Kedron and battled bravely, but ultimately went down by 41 points. The final score was 7.5.47 to 1.0.6.
The result sees the women move to 4-4 on the season.
In other women's league news, the lone goal scored by the Magpies several weeks ago remains Broadbeach's only score conceded for the season -- a goal to be proud of for sure!
The men's reseves side lost a close contest by 22 points against Kedron. The final score was 9.12.66 to 6.8.44.
The reserves side has struggled with player continuity and group chemistry, with coach Jay Powers being forced to make up to ten changes to the side each week.
All magpies teams will look to make consistent effort and performances hallmarks of the back half of their years.
All three teams will be playing at home on Saturday, starting with the reserves team, who kick off at 11:45 down at the Nest against Alex Hills. The seniors team will take on Alex Hills at 2:00pm, and the women will clash with Gympie at 4:45.
After the matches, there will be a Trivia night held at the club. Good luck for this week, go pies!
